Air Serbia and China Southern Airlines have signed a mutual codeshare agreement in Guangzhou. The Serbian national airline will now add its “JU” designator code and flight numbers onto China Southern Airlines’ service between Guangzhou and Belgrade, while its Chinese counterpart will do so on Air Serbia’s operations on the same route. Commenting on the agreement, Air Serbia’s CEO, Jiri Marek, said, “Over three months ago, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Southern Airlines, aiming to improve our partnership, as well as connectivity between Serbia and China. The introduction of flights from Belgrade to Guangzhou and Shanghai has opened further possibilities in the form of additional destinations across the networks of the two airlines, via Guangzhou and Belgrade. We will continue to search for opportunities to strengthen and expand our cooperation, with the goal of offering our passengers new travel options and enabling them to reach far-away destinations quicker and easier”.
Air Serbia and China Southern Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2024, which includes further improving cooperation in various areas such as a codeshare partnership, cargo operations, ground handling services, MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) services, catering, lounge usage, and more. “The Serbian and Chinese national airlines are exploring opportunities for further commercial collaboration, which could potentially lead to joint investments”, Air Serbia said.
