An easyJet flight from Edinburgh to Paris diverted to Manchester within the past 30 minutes after declaring an in-flight emergency.
Flight U23241, operated by an Airbus A320, was en route to Paris Charles de Gaulle when the crew squawked 7700, the international emergency code. Flight-tracking data showed the aircraft descending rapidly to around 10,000 feet while over northern England before diverting.
The aircraft landed safely at Manchester Airport, where fire and emergency vehicles were positioned as a precaution. Passengers were seen disembarking normally. There have been no reports of injuries.
At this stage, the cause of the diversion has not been confirmed. Online aviation groups have speculated about a possible pressurisation or technical issue based on the descent profile, but this remains unverified.
easyJet has not yet issued a statement. Updates are expected as more information becomes available.

Update #
Aviation monitoring groups and eyewitness comments now suggest the diversion may have been linked to a loss of cabin pressurisation, based on the aircraft’s rapid descent profile and the emergency code used. Several witnesses at Manchester Airport reported fire and emergency vehicles escorting the aircraft to the gate after landing.
At this stage, easyJet has not confirmed the cause, and the airline has yet to issue an official statement. Until that happens, the reason for the diversion remains unverified.
We’ll update once easyJet or airport authorities provide confirmation.
