The popular Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal will be closing this summer, and I’d consider that to be great news (thanks to Sel, D. for flagging this).
Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos closes summer 2025 for renovation
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal will be closing between July 15 and September 30, 2025, as the property undergoes a renovation. Reservations are no longer available for those dates, but stays are possible again as of October 1, 2025.
The 112-key property became a Waldorf Astoria in 2019. However, it initially opened in 2009 as Capella Pedregal, and was then rebranded in 2014 as The Resort at Pedregal. This is one of the most popular luxury Hilton Honors properties in the Americas, as it has an excellent location, friendly service, and great dining.
So if you have a stay planned here over these dates, expect that the resort will reach out to you to offer an alternative. The Los Cabos hotel market keeps getting more competitive, and obviously this hotel needs to keep up, as I don’t think it has undergone a major renovation since it opened.
A renovation for this property is long overdue
I think the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos is a great resort, and it’s an amazing place to redeem Hilton Honors points. That being said, the resort is definitely feeling a bit past its prime. It has great “bones,” and most of the public areas are quite nice, though the rooms feel outdated, and not like what you’d expect from a five-star property.
So I’m very happy to see this resort closing for some time, and getting a bit of a refresh. Now, a closure of just 2.5 months really isn’t very long, so I’m curious how significant the changes are. I have to imagine the rooms are getting an updated design, new furniture, etc. Can that all be executed so quickly? Maybe the most disruptive work is being done during the closure, but then some wings will still be closed even after the resort reopens? I guess we’ll see…
I look forward to returning here once it reopens, as I trust it’ll represent a significant improvement over the current setup. While points availability can be hard to come by, with some effort, it’s very possible to get a good deal here on points.
Bottom line
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos will be closing in the summer of 2025, so that it can undergo a renovation. I absolutely love this resort, though it definitely needs some updates if it wants to remain competitive with the ever-increasing number of five-star properties in the area.
